Registered Midwives provide primary care during pregnancy, birth and for the first 2 months postpartum.

Midwifery care is rooted in informed family-centered decision making, continuity of care throughout pregnancy and birth, and choice of birth place.

We honor the pregnant person and their family as decision makers and view our role as facilitators of care.  We offer our expertise, evidence-based health information, community standards of care, and medical, holistic, and traditional alternatives to support your decision making process.

Through continuity of care we form trusting relationships with families to support positive birth experiences.

The clients we serve have the choice of home or hospital birth.  By blending the basic elements of midwifery practice with a dedication to family-centered care, we strive to make our midwifery care accessible and dynamic.

All midwifery services are covered under BC’s public health insurance.

Community >

At the Strathcona Midwifery Collective, we extend our community involvement beyond our local networks!

We acknowledge that we live in one of the most privileged societies on Earth and that local change must be tempered with global action.  We support local and international community health initiatives. Our midwives commit a percentage of our income to support these projects.
