Care

At Stathcona Midwifery, we believe that cooperation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration between midwives and families is the basis for the best possible care.

We celebrate family diversity as an enriching part of our community.

We welcome nuclear, chosen, blended and creative family networks from diverse cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

We are a queer friendly and trans inclusive space, where no one will be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.

We acknowledge and respond to the needs of marginalized and low income families in a non-patronizing way that supports dignity and self-determination.

Through continuity of care we form trusting relationships with families to support positive birth experiences.

Change

At Strathcona Midwifery, we extend our community involvement beyond birth work.

We acknowledge in solidarity and with gratitude, that we live and work on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəjˀəm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ Nations.

We commit ourselves to the ongoing work of reconciliation and anti-racism in our communities and in birth.

Our practice has established a Reproductive Justice fund that allows us to participate in community projects, support individuals and further our own education and work as allies.
