Our group of Registered Midwives honour all forms of families and care for pregnant people who live in Vancouver and surrounding areas.
We provide family-centered care during pregnancy, birth, and the first 6 weeks after your baby is born.
Our team has years of experience caring for Indigenous, trans/queer, neurodivergent, and Sanctuary families (i.e. people who are uninsured/noninsured), as well as those planning out-of-hospital births.
We commit ourselves to the ongoing work of reconciliation and anti-racism in our communities and in birth.
We acknowledge - in solidarity and with gratitude - that we live and work on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəjˀəm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ Nations.

At Strathcona Midwifery, we honour the pregnant person and their family as decision makers and view our role as that of a facilitator of care.
All of our clients have the choice of a home or hospital birth.
Our midwives will be prepared to support your decision-making process with their expertise, evidence-based health information, community standards of care, and medical, holistic, and traditional alternatives. We provide care to families living in Vancouver, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis.
All midwifery services are covered under BC’s public health insurance.
We also accept a few private-pay patients each month who need our services but do not have BC public health insurance. By blending the basic elements of midwifery practice with a dedication to family-centred care, we strive to make our midwifery care accessible and dynamic.
