Maverick Lumen, Medical Office Assistant

Joining the team at Strathcona Midwifery has been very fulfilling! My background is varied, but I went to school for counselling. I practiced for a few years before realizing that being a clinician was not for me. From there, I moved to provide virtual support to counsellors and therapy adjacent fields. Switching to in-person at Strathcona has been an adjustment, but I've been glad to work with the team here and learn the role. Despite moving away from counselling, I still have the underlying desire that motivated me to become a counsellor in the first place. To see people receive the competent, well-informed care they deserve that empowers them to have a choice in what they receive.

I am a passionate artist and enjoy following my creativity in life to make whatever excites me. My current projects involve sculpting ball-jointed dolls and seeing them come to life.

Em Brauen, Medical Office Manager

I'm so excited to be working for Strathcona Midwifery Collective! I love the welcoming atmosphere, and I'm fully dedicated to making patients' time here as easy and informative as possible.

After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies & Health Studies, I knew my passion was in creating inclusive and affirming spaces in healthcare. While my previous reception/admin experience is in sexual health clinics, I am thrilled to be learning & expanding my scope.

When I'm not working, I love to fill my days with art practice (inks and watercolour), good music, video games and horror novels!
