Registered Midwives provide primary care during pregnancy, birth and for the first 2 months postpartum.

Midwifery care is rooted in informed family-centered decision making, continuity of care throughout pregnancy and birth, and choice of birth place.

We honor the pregnant person and their family as decision makers and view our role as facilitators of care.  We offer our expertise, evidence-based health information, community standards of care, and medical, holistic, and traditional alternatives to support your decision making process.

Through continuity of care we form trusting relationships with families to support positive birth experiences.

The clients we serve have the choice of home or hospital birth.  By blending the basic elements of midwifery practice with a dedication to family-centered care, we strive to make our midwifery care accessible and dynamic.

All midwifery services are covered under BC’s public health insurance.

The Strathcona Midwifery Collective strives to build community in an environment that nurtures and supports families, all parents, and babies through our commitment to reproductive justice and social action.

Community >

At the Strathcona Midwifery Collective, we extend our community involvement beyond birth work.

We acknowledge in solidarity and with gratitude, that we live and work on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəjˀəm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.  We commit ourselves to the ongoing work of reconciliation and anti-racism in our communities and in birth. Our practice has established a Reproductive Justice fund that allows us to participate in community projects, support individuals and further our own education and work as allies.
